Editorial policy

What gets published, how it is sourced, and how mistakes get fixed.

Who writes everything here

One person: Mike M.. There is no contributor network, no freelance pool and no “expert panel”. Every page carries his byline because he wrote it, and the byline is accurate rather than decorative.

No content on this site is published under a fabricated author name, and no author credential is claimed that the client did not provide. That means no trade license, no certification and no years-in-the-industry figure appears anywhere, because none were provided.

Sourcing rules

  1. Every safety-critical number is cited. Pressure limits for siding, ceilings for washing a car, detergent dilution ratios — each links to a manufacturer document or a published standard, with the date it was checked.
  2. Every product specification traces to live catalog data or the manufacturer’s own published figures. Never from memory. Where a spec is not published, the page says so rather than estimating.
  3. If a number cannot be sourced, it does not go on the page. We write the qualitative statement instead — “low pressure and a wide fan, siding damages easily” rather than inventing a threshold.
  4. Outbound reference links are followed normally when they are genuine sources (manufacturer documentation, standards bodies). Commercial links are marked rel="sponsored nofollow".
  5. No other publisher’s testing results are reproduced as ours. Where another publisher’s finding is worth citing, it is cited by name and linked.

What this site will not publish

  • Fabricated reviews or testimonials. There are none on this site at all, because there is no review history to draw on.
  • Claims of testing we did not do. The permitted and prohibited phrasings are published in full on how we pick, and they are binding on every sentence.
  • Prices from memory. Prices come only from live catalog data and expire on their own. There is no way to type one into this site’s content.
  • Manufactured urgency. No countdowns, no scarcity claims, no “prices won’t last”. None of it would be true.
  • Paid placement. Positions in roundups are not for sale and no manufacturer reviews a page before publication.

Update cadence

Prices — daily. Automated, from Amazon’s catalog. A failed run means prices disappear after 48 hours rather than going stale.

Product picks — reviewed on a trigger. A product being discontinued, replaced by a new model, or developing a pattern of owner complaints that was not previously visible. Also at least annually per roundup.

Guides and how-tos — reviewed annually, or whenever a cited source changes its guidance.

The “Last checked” date under each byline is the date the page was genuinely reviewed by a person. It is never advanced automatically, and never advanced to make a page look fresher than it is.

Correction policy

Mistakes get fixed, visibly. If you email contact@pressurewasherandpatio.com with a page and what is wrong:

  • A factual error — a wrong specification, a wrong compatibility claim, a wrong safety figure — is corrected and the “Last checked” date updated.
  • A significant correction — one that would change a reader’s purchase decision — is noted on the page itself rather than quietly edited.
  • A disagreement about a judgment (you think a product should rank higher) is welcome and will be read, but scores are editorial and will not change because a manufacturer or a reader asked. They change when the evidence does.

Pages are never silently deleted to hide an error. If a page is wrong enough that it should not exist, it is corrected or replaced and the URL redirected.

Commercial relationships

Pressurewasher & Patio earns commission on Amazon purchases made through its links, and nothing else. No sponsorships, no advertorial, no free product in exchange for coverage. If any of that ever changes, it will be disclosed on the page where it applies as well as on the affiliate disclosure page.

AI and content generation

Pages on this site are drafted and edited with software assistance, like most publishing now, and every page is the responsibility of the named author. The sourcing rules above apply regardless of how a draft started: no specification, price, safety figure or testing claim appears on this site unless it traces to live catalog data, a published manufacturer document, or a cited source.
