Buying for someone who owns a pressure washer is easier than it looks, because almost everyone who owns one is missing the same handful of things. This page is written for a gifter rather than an enthusiast: what each item does, who it suits, and what you need to check before you order.
Check one thing first
Accessories attach in one of two ways: 1/4-inch quick connect (a push-on coupler) or M22 threaded (screws on). If you can get a photo of the end of their gun, that is enough. If you cannot, the safe gifts are the ones that do not attach to anything — pump saver, detergent, a wash mitt — or a quick-connect item plus a cheap adapter set, which costs almost nothing and removes the risk entirely.
The second thing worth knowing is their machine’s GPM, because it decides whether a surface cleaner or a foam cannon will work well. It is printed on the machine. If you cannot find out, avoid the surface cleaner and pick from the rest.
Under $25: the things they should already own
Pump saver is the unglamorous best gift on this page. Water left in a pump over winter freezes and cracks the housing, and a cracked pump usually costs more than the machine is worth. One bottle, one minute each autumn. Nobody buys this for themselves until after it has happened once.
A full nozzle tip set is the other. Most people are still using the one tip that came fitted, which means they are doing every job with the wrong setting. A color set costs a few dollars and genuinely changes what their machine can do — see the color chart if you want to explain it in the card.
$25 to $60: the fun ones
A turbo nozzle if they talk about their driveway. It is a rotating jet that cuts through concrete grime far faster than a fan tip, and it is the accessory people enjoy using. Needs quick connect, and a mention that it will damage wood and siding.
A foam cannon if they care about their car. It covers the car in thick foam before washing, which looks dramatic and genuinely reduces the scratching a sponge would cause. Works best on machines with decent flow — on a very low-flow unit the foam is thinner, and there is a page about that.
A 50-foot hose if you want the useful rather than the exciting option. It replaces the short stock hose and means they stop dragging the machine around the house. Check the fitting type for this one.
Over $60: the real upgrade
A surface cleaner. If they have a driveway or a patio, this is the present that saves them hours, every year. The only catch is sizing: 11 inches for a 1.2 GPM machine, 14 for 1.6 to 2.0, 15 for a gas unit. Get that right and it is the best gift on the page; get it wrong and it will barely spin. How to check.
What not to buy
A pressure washer itself, unless you know they do not have one and you know what they will clean — it is a genuinely job-specific purchase. Branded detergent for a brand other than theirs. And anything described as “universal” without a stated fitting size, which usually means it fits whatever the seller had in stock.
